An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated, organised and energetic individual to join Life Saving Victoria in this newly creation role as the LSV Communications Operations Coordinator.
Life Saving Victoria is Victoria’s peak Water safety and Lifesaving organisation with a mission to prevent aquatic related death and injury across all Victorian communities. We strive to provide all Victorians with skills in water safety, swimming and resuscitation, along with access to safe beaches, inland water environments and aquatic venues.
We achieve this by working closely with our volunteer members, communities, educational institutions, governments, and other key organisations in the provision of best practice education, training, surveillance and rescue and risk management services.
We are seeking a skilled operational communications individual to oversee the delivery of LSV’s Operational Communications Centre and contribute to the leadership of the service state-wide. You will oversee the delivery of professional services by the LSV Comms team (both volunteer and paid services). This will include ensuring the team liaise and communicate in a positive, efficient and timely manner with all stakeholders including Volunteer members, other Emergency Service Agencies, Councils, other contracted regulatory bodies and the broader community.
Key Selection Criteria;
Ideal candidate: this position would ideally suit a strong operational communication professional with a sound understanding of the operational communication and information system platforms of the Victorian Emergency Service Sector.
Specific requirements: Previous experience as an operator, lifeguard, incident or emergency organisations would be preferred. You will have excellent interpersonal and communications skills with leadership experience in an incident management context including previous experience rostering staff. Experience with Microsoft Office/Teams and Computer Aided Dispatch systems will be required. You will have proven success working in teams with a diverse range of people.
Personal attributes: demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service and to overcome obstacles and 'make things happen'. You will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adapt to the needs of the team. You will be detailed orientated, with demonstrated success in working to deadlines. You will be flexible with availability after hours and some weekends during peak season.
Communication skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise and communicate a variety of stakeholders. You will have exemplary interpersonal and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively consult and work with a range of stakeholders to achieve beneficial outcomes.
You will need to be available for regular weekends during peak summer period and some regional travel may be required.
This is a seasonal (casual) role anticipating full time hours from October 2020 – March 2021.
