An exciting new opportunity has emerged for a Purchasing Specialist to support the Supply Chain Manager to ensure the smooth running of the Supply Chain Department. You will document and communicate across all stakeholders in an efficient and timely manner whilst adhering to Gilmour Space policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The responsibilities listed are not exhaustive, they represent examples of the work performed by this position. You will be required to perform other duties within your skills and abilities.

  • Sourcing and buying the right products as the requirement of the company
  • Continuously monitoring market demand and supply for the required products
  • Negotiate with suppliers to get the best product for the best price
  • Submit reports to management where required
  • Analyse each and every buying opportunity available for a particular situation
  • Place Purchase Orders to the seller of a particular product
  • Liaise with the other Departments and source suppliers based on their technical requirements
  • Obtain sample products for quality testing
  • Maintain a buying database
  • Monitor purchases for on-time delivery and remediate when not
  • Monitor supplier performance and quality and alter sourcing strategy to deliver on time quality products
  • Other duties as requested by Management

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Technical engineering understanding
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal)

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience as a buyer or similar field
  • Very good Engineering product knowledge
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent analytical ability
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Very good computer skills
  • Capable of obtaining and maintaining an Australian Government NV Level 1 Security Clearance
