The Software Engineer Graduate will design, develop, test, deploy and support the software systems that are being built for launch vehicles, ground-based infrastructure and other supporting systems that will be used to deliver satellites into orbit. You will work within a team of talented engineers to develop systems that ensure highly reliable flight and mission success. Within this role you are expected to build a core of technical excellence in software engineering.Duties and Responsibilities:The responsibilities listed are not exhaustive, they represent examples of the work performed by this position.Object-oriented design and implementation in a modern compiled language such as C/C++.Developing prototypes to prove out key design concepts and quantify technical constraints.Building test tools for the development team using any of these scripting or compiled languages: Go/Python/Node.js/C++.All aspects of DevOps, including workflows, data management, application development and service delivery.Writing application software for launch vehicle, ground support and test systems.Other duties as requested by Management.Minimum Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering – Software, Information Technology, Mechatronics, Electronic, Mechanical, Aerospace or a related field.Demonstrated experience with C/C++ and scripting languages (Bash Python).Demonstrated experience with version control systems (Git preferred).Demonstrated experience with Linux.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proven communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships.Have a passion for advancing the commercial space industry.Must be capable of obtaining and clearing a NV Level 1 Security Clearance.Desired Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceExperience in bringing your designs to fruition (experience on the job).Experience with software architecture design.Good understanding of networking with knowledge and experience in TCP/IP, UDP and multicast protocols. Experience with Docker and containerization.Experience creating CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Concourse).Experience in system validation and software release processes.Experience with embedded software development.Experience with Matlab/Simulink.Policies and ProceduresAll Gilmour Space policies and procedures form part of all Employees’ terms of engagement and position descriptions.
