The Company is now seeking an Engineering Manager in their modern Melbourne headquarters in a role that will be responsible for the continued development of the design team and processes as well as contributing to the continuous improvement of all functions in this growing business.In your new role you will join an established team that works towards the completion of products on spec and on time. You will be tasked with managing a team of engineers and sub professionals (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, and Drafting). You will focus on design of new vehicles, skids and self-bunded fuel storage tanks. You will manage this team through the design on new products to customer specifications, as well as whole of life product support. Your role in the initial period will also focus on process improvement of product standardisation, design process and systems, documentation and compliance to relevant Australian and International standards.Your responsibilities will include evaluating internal processes to manage the engineering department, ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, engineering resource allocation, resource prioritisation and cost estimation for projects and new designs. You will be able to troubleshoot issues both in the factory and in the field; and set up reporting structures to colleagues and senior management. Good communication with customers is also requisite for this role. You will be a degree qualified Mechanical Engineer (or Electrical, Industrial, Mechatronic) with some solid years of experience with engineering management and proven ability to develop technical teams. You will have experience with dealing with customers directly and have a sound knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics/flow dynamics as well as mechanical and electrical systems. Experience with engineering design tools (3D modelling, FEA, AutoCAD Inventor 3D, AutoCAD 2D etc) is also required. An understanding of lean manufacturing techniques is also highly desired.
