
Farm Labourers (Almonds) VIC
A wet harvest season on an almond farm results in a post harvest period where too many nuts have stayed on the trees, and have to be removed and destroyed for the health of the plantation.
To deal with the results of this year's wet weather, our client, a large operator of almond farms south of Mildura and Swan Hill, needs a number of teams of labourers to undertake the task of knocking those nuts from the trees. This is called "poleing".
Casual Basis - Start Immediately - $24.38/hr (Plus OT)
Work is between Haysdale, Boundary Bend & Wemen, VIC
The job:
- Use a 3m long, 32mm diameter black polypipe to knock retained nuts from almond trees.
- expected days of work are Monday-Saturday, 5-12 hours depending on the weather, for 3-4 weeks.
- each team will consist of 10-16 people, plus a supervisor.
You need:
- To be sufficiently fit to cope with walking up and down the length of the rows
- Sufficient upper body strength to be able to wield the pipe above head height to knock the nuts from the trees.
- To be able to dress appropriately for the work, including steel capped work boots (other PPE will be provided)
- Your own transport to & from site - we are unable to provide.
- To be available to work in July, for 3-4 weeks start this week!
Accommodation is not provided, but can be found in the nearby towns of Mildura, Swan Hill or Robinvale, depending on which farm you are assigned to. Robinvale accommodation would be most suitable
