Currently we are seeking a Senior Commercial Lawyer that specialises in property and procurement to provide legal services primarily in relation to the department’s specialised programme. The services will comprise of providing advice on decisions made. The lawyer will be required to work together with a small team of lawyers within the legal team which is responsible for legal services which support the department’s functions, including the program.

You must have the ability to:
- articulate/ communicate own views
- critically assess own interpretation and others’ interpretation
- the ability to find common ground in terms of work practices and interpretation
- to escalate matters to Director and/or General Counsel (as appropriate) to ensure minimal interruption to workflow and s consistent approach by the branch to the review/resolution of privacy incidents
- to meet regularly with colleagues and EL1/EL2 staff to workshop matters, as a means to ensure consistency in the approach to decision-making

This will be a secondment on site within a federal government department to the 31st December 2019 with the potential to extend a further 6 months.
