About the Role
We're currently seeking applications for the permanent part-time (18.75 hours per week) role of Family Support Worker to work within the Children’s Contact Service at our Townsville location.
Hours of work will be negotiated with the successful applicant(s) on offer, however given the operational hours of the CCS, you will be required to work every second weekend, attracting generous penalty rates.
Tasks for this role include: facilitate contact arrangements, support children and their families during changeovers or supervised visits, provide a safe and secure environment for the children.
Other tasks:
- Apply theoretical models of supportive human interaction, developmental stages of children, conflict resolution, and other relevant frameworks.
- Undertaking assessment and intake processes, including parent interviews.
- Organising safe and appropriate activities for children to maximise parent/child.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for parents and children accessing CCS.
About You
To be successful in this position, you will
- Possess a relevant tertiary qualification in the social or behavioural sciences, with a focus on child development.
- Have demonstrated experience working with children and their parents/carers and theoretical knowledge of the issues regarding child development, abuse and/or neglect.
- Have experience working with people in crisis and/or parents in conflict.
- Knowledge and ability to apply relevant legislation and regulations relating to family law and/or children’s contact issues is also required.
The salary being offered is circa 73,554.00 to 84,162.00 per annum pro rata, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation.
