Junior Apprentice Chef
TORGAS are seeking junior applicants who are passionate about food wanting to complete a Commercial Cookery Apprenticeship (Chef) based in Townsville. A dedicated TORGAS Field Representative will be assigned to you to guide you through obtaining your Certificate III in Commercial Cookery whilst offering support throughout your placement/s during your apprenticeship.
In this entry level position, you will be provided with in depth training in all aspects of commercial cookery including:
- Food preparation and plating during busy service
- Busy ala carte service experience
- Safe food handling practices
- Cleaning to legislative standards
- Operation of kitchen equipment
- Stock rotation
About You:
- Possess a desire to pursue a long-term career as a Chef
- Available to work weekends
- Can work in a fast-paced environment with hot working conditions
- Able to work under pressure and follow directions
- Quick learner willing take to on feedback
- Strong time management skills and communication skills
- Drivers Licence highly regarded due to split shift requirements
- Cert I or II in hospitality would be an advantage or experience working with food
Successful candidates will need to provide two references and participate in a pre-employment medical with drug and alcohol testing.
