We have a rare opportunity for a Livestock Assistant Manager to join the team at Cooinbil Station.Cooinbil is a 137,000-ha aggregation stretching from the Murrumbidgee River to the Yanco Creek in the NSW Western Riverina. Our two main station complexes are located roughly 100km from Hay, Deniliquin, Jerilderie and Griffith.We are an extensive livestock operation focused primarily on a self-replacing merino sheep flock and a cattle backgrounding operation as seasons allow. Joining 50,000 merino ewes annually and turning off up to 7,000 head of cattle in better seasons, it is a dynamic business which relies on a dedicated, high functioning and resourceful team.The role will be responsible for supervising and coordinating station livestock operations under direction of the Station Manager. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of animal husbandry practices, awareness of environment and sustainability practices, proficiency in general station maintenance, machinery operation and maintenance and be competent in record keeping with a focus on electronic data and recording management systems.The role is an important part of the leadership team at Cooinbil and will be expected to demonstrate Paraway’s values of Accountability, Integrity, and Opportunity with a strong commitment to safety. Of key importance in this role is the ability to work in a team environment and the capability to work cohesively with the station leadership to ensure the ongoing growth and development of the team at Cooinbil. The successful candidate will be required to plan, implement and review efficient livestock & property management practices in consultation with the Manager, and will handle daily work programming for the team of station hands and seasonal contractors supported by a livestock overseer.It is essential that the successful candidate has their own working dogs and an ability to handle large numbers of livestock in both paddock and yards, in a calm efficient manner with a focus on the welfare of the animals and their team.
