About HOPE
HOPE has been a community service in Western Australia for over a century, providing much needed support to people affected by alcohol and other drugs, mental health, youth justice issues, family and domestic violence and socioeconomic disadvantage.
About the role:
The primary function of this role is to provide group work sessions to young people on remand or detained in Banksia Hill Detention Centre. The program delivered provides support to develop young people’s knowledge in the area of life skills, health and development. This program encourages young people to take responsibility and make positive future choices through face to face sessions.
In this role you will build rapport and working relationships with young people in detention, role modelling socially appropriate behaviour.
Requirements of the role:
We are looking for someone who can work creatively engage young people with mental health and social issues in a justice setting.
This role will require you to draw from your experience facilitating programs to youth, combining this with your understanding of issues impacting young people in the Youth Justice System.
we are looking for someone who can work in culturally sensitive way and with to young people displaying challenging behaviours.
For a successful appointment you will require previous experience of working within human services, or a Certificate 2 / Certificate 3 in Youth Work, Community Services, Mental Health or AOD.
Appointments will be subject to Australian residency/visa, current first aid certificate, satisfactory National Criminal Record checks, the Working With Children Check, Covid-19 Vaccination records, Current C or A class driver's license, and suitable work referees
