How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:

  • Critically review mechanical designs, structural interfaces, and temperature/pressure considerations in the design
  • Design and verify mechanical and structural systems to meet customer and Gilmour requirements for Gilmour rocket vehicles
  • Develop test plans for parts through development, qualification, and acceptance testing
  • Collaborate on the development and work allocation the junior team
  • Validate the performance characteristics are consistent with the design
  • Liaise with the Guidance and Propulsion departments as required
  • Ability to problem solve and understand complex problems; incumbent must be able to resolve situations that demand solutions.
  • Review specifications and other data to develop mechanical layouts.
  • Other duties as requested by Management

Mandatory Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 + years of experience in a professional mechanical engineering setting (excluding internships)
  • Highly developed CAD skills developed through design of parts and assemblies (Solid works preferred, Inventor, CATIA etc.), or
  • Highly developed simulation skills with at least one commercial FEA or Multiphysics simulation package (ANSYS preferred or NASTRAN, ABAQUS, CFD codes, etc.)
