
RWC Operators | Course EOI
As part of LSV’s ongoing commitment to the development of the Rescue Watercraft Service (RWC) we are now welcoming applications from suitably qualified and proficient lifesavers.
The RWC services run across the state of Victoria at 9 different sites and provide adequate patrolling and response to Victoria’s coastline. As a RWC Operator you will be expected to complete rostered shifts, attend training sessions, state briefings, skills maintenance sessions and maintain minimum pre – requisite awards.
LSV will be conducting one course, as listed below, with only 12 positions available.

Course Expectations
Applicants must be available across all four training days to be eligible for the course and complete an online theory component prior to the session.
LSV will cover lunch and snacks for the day however further meals, accommodation and travel will be at the candidate’s expense.
RWC Applicant Criteria
To be suitable to apply you must meet the following criteria:
- Be minimum 18 years of age at the time you submit an EOI
- Be a current financial and proficient member of a Life Saving Victoria affiliated Life Saving Club or Service
- Have completed a minimum of three (3) years active beach patrol in Victoria
- A proven excellence of patrol attendance
- Have an understanding of LSV’s SOP’s
- Proven Teamwork and Communication Skills
- Clear situational and incident awareness
- Current Driver’s License and Marine Licence with PWC Endorsement
- Current Working with Children Check
- Be proficient in the minimum awards as outlined below
- Gain written endorsement from Club President, Secretary or Club Captain
RWC Pre-Requisites
- Bronze Medallion (BM) / Certificate II in Public Safety
- Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – (HLTAID009)
- Provide First Aid – (HLTAID0011)
- Provide Advanced Resuscitation Technique – (HLTAID015)
- Silver Medallion Patrol Captain
- SSV Operator
- IRB Crew (IRBC)
- IRB Driver (IRBD)
Other awards additional to those specified above will be considered when selecting candidates. Demonstrated Beach Management, IRB experience, and previous participation at Advanced Lifesaving Camp/Course will be particularly well regarded. If you are involved in other services, current feedback may be reviewed and considered.
Due to the high level of interest, any application which does not meet the minimum requirements will not be considered.
It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure via Members Portal - SLSA that their awards are current prior to applying and on an ongoing basis to continue to remain eligible.
Other Expectations and Requirements
All applicants must be conscious of operational factors including;
- Rostered duty can vary, starting from 10am to 12pm, and some sites ending as late as 8pm.
- Rostered duty may result in operators traveling to sites (within reason).
- RWC Operators must provide availability for a minimum of 4 shifts spread between Boxing Day and Australia Day.
- They must also provide availability for a minimum of 2 shifts per month for the patrol season outside of the peak period and can expect to be rostered to an average of at least 1 shift per month
