Gilmour Space is the leading Australian rocket company, pioneering next-generation hybrid propulsion technologies for small satellite launch vehicles.
We are looking to hire 2 x Propulsion Engineer II's. As part of the Propulsion team at Gilmour Space, you will be responsible for design, test, and analysis of various rocket propulsion system elements. You will be helping to develop in-house capability and know-how to design, manufacture, and test liquid rocket engines, hybrid motors, and/or propulsion fluid systems. Your responsibilities will include documenting your work and communicating across teams to ensure duties are performed in an efficient and timely manner, while adhering to Gilmour Space policies and procedures.

- Design and analyse fluid and mechanical components/subsystems for hybrid and liquid rocket engines
- Develop CAD models and drawings of test stands and rocket engine components
- Formulate hardware test plans, support test campaigns, and evaluate experimental test results
- Troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analyses
- Assist/lead qualification tests of propulsion components/subsystems
- Develop written procedures and checklist for performing test operations
- Guide the development of written procedures for manufacturing components
- Coordinate the fabrication, assembly and integration of propulsion system elements
- Support launch preparations and launch operations, as needed
- Perform other duties as requested by Management
How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:

- Bachelors (BS) degree in an Engineering discipline
- 5+ years of experience in propulsion, mechanical, fluid system design and analysis in a professional setting (excluding internships)
- 3+ years’ experience with CAD designing parts and assemblies
(NX/Teamcenter preferred, but other relevant experience is valuable), or - 3+ years’ experience with at least one commercial FEA or Multiphysics simulation package (ANSYS preferred or NASTRAN, ABAQUS, CFD codes, etc.)
- 3+ years’ hands-on hardware experience performing fabrication, assembly, integration and testing.
- NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred

- 3+ years’ experience of professional experience in rocket propulsion
- Knowledge of standards concerning the design of high-pressure fluid systems
- Ability to manage large assembly models and drawings
- Solid understanding and application of GD&T standards to design and manufacturing processes
- Ability to work well in an integrated team including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers
- Creative problem solver that can bring multiple disciplines together
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
