How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:
The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do.
- To ensure the smooth operation of the Structures team across both AM & PM shifts
- To carry out assignments associated with the assembly and testing of rocket structures.
- To deliver training to technicians on best-in-class operations practices by driving process improvement workshops; providing training and information briefs on key topics; and demonstrating solutions in the area
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports as required
- Work with Design & Manufacturing Engineers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and test requirements, then implement in a rapidly evolving production environment
- Create suggested process improvement methodologies and tools to reduce manufacturing build hours and quality issues; increase production rates; and remove waste from complex processes
- Ensure quality control standards are always adhered to
- Coordinate with team members in solving technical problems as they arise
- To communicate with all managers and team members to ensure positive working relationships and adherence to the daily operational requirement
- Ability to accommodate off-hours work, as necessary, during certain build phases
- Other duties as requested by Management
Supervision:
- Provide leadership, motivation, and direction in the day to day running of the Structures team, ensuring it is managed effectively by setting clear targets/KPI’s and monitoring these in line with expectations
- To manage performance of the team, ensuring that any shortfalls in performance are managed and reported to the Manufacturing Supervisor
- To ensure all workers are inducted and operate to the company’s policies / procedures including casuals, contractors & visitors on site
- Ensure toolbox meetings are conducted in line with Gilmour Space requirements Minutes of meeting should be taken with items raised, actioned in timely manner
- Ensure employees work in line with company policies and procedures
- To complete Performance Appraisals in line with Gilmour Space policy and procedures
- To ensure that the team receive adequate training and development necessary to meet the needs of the business
Mandatory Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Level 3 Trade qualification in Aerospace, Fitting, or similar trade
- 5+ years of experience in the aerospace, manufacturing, marine or automotive industry
- NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred.
Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Experience gained through the military or within an aviation manufacturing company.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with the proper usage of hand tools & power tool
- High-volume manufacturing experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
