Deputy Head of Secondary
Waverley Christian College is a forward thinking and culturally diverse Christian co-educational school from Kinder to Year 12. We have been providing students with a quality Christian educational experience for over 45 years. With campuses in Wantirna South and Narre Warren South, Waverley Christian College has an enrolment of over 2400 students with 400 staff across both campuses in 2025.
Following an internal promotion of a highly regarded leader, the Wantirna South Campus is seeking a full-time Deputy Head of Secondary to help shape the growth and flourishing of our Secondary School community. The Deputy Head of Secondary works closely with the Head of Secondary to guide the day-to-day life of the school, nurturing a culture where staff and students are inspired to learn, lead, and serve.
This role blends strategic oversight with genuine care, supporting staff in their professional practice, overseeing curriculum delivery, and leading a strong pastoral program that encourages students to thrive academically, socially, and personally. With responsibility for student wellbeing, behaviour, and co-curricular opportunities, the Deputy Head of Secondary champions a holistic approach to education that equips young people to serve with purpose beyond themselves.
With a blend of leadership and teaching (currently including a small teaching allocation), your influence will be both strategic and personal — leading systems, supporting staff, and staying close to the classroom so your leadership remains grounded in what matters most.
The successful applicant must:
- Be a thoughtful Christian leader with a heart for discipleship and formation
- Bring proven leadership experience within a Secondary setting
- Be highly collaborative, and organised, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be a qualified teacher and hold a current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)
- Have current First Aid qualifications and Anaphylaxis Certificate or be willing to obtain these prior to commencement.
- Be able to show a commitment to the values and ethos of Christian education.
- Be willing to get involved in all aspects of the College’s programs and opportunities.
Some of the benefits of working at Waverley Christian College include:
- A range of salary packaging options
- School fees discounts for staff whose children attend the school (after 12 months)
- Flexible work opportunities
- Wellbeing initiatives
- Career and leadership professional development opportunities
- Employee Assistance Program
- Friendly and collegial community to work with
All potential employees will be required to comply with the College’s Child Safety Code of Conduct, Child Safety Policy, and Student Wellbeing Policy. We have zero tolerance for child abuse. You will be expected to contribute proactively to a culture of child safety at the College.
