As a Mutual, we work differently. We're trusted partners to our Members (insured local councils), collaborating closely to protect their workforce and minimise the impact of workplace injuries.
The Role
We're looking for a Communications and Engagement Manager who will lead StateCover's Member and stakeholder engagement activities. This role builds communications capability across the business by delivering strategic initiatives, partnering with subject matter experts, and providing frameworks and coaching that enable confident, authentic Member engagement and strengthen Member satisfaction.
Reporting to our General Manager, Member Services you'll lead a team of two while getting hands-on to coach teams, deliver strategic campaigns and oversee our digital presence. It'll be a balance of enabling others while delivering key initiatives yourself.
About You
You bring tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing or a related field, along with proven experience leading communications functions where you've built capability and partnered across the business. You're a strategic thinker who can also roll up your sleeves, whether that's delivering digital campaigns, managing events, or creating compelling content. Ideally, you'll have experience in insurance or local government sectors.
You're an expert communicator who genuinely enjoys developing others' skills and confidence. You set clear frameworks then trust people to work within them, blending coaching with strategic delivery. With strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, you value partnership over control and promote collaborative relationships. Your advanced digital and content management expertise, combined with excellent project and event management capabilities, means you can juggle multiple priorities while staying highly organised. Ultimately, you measure success by organisational impact, not just your team's output, and that mindset shapes how you lead.
