As part of the Propulsion team at Gilmour Space, you will be responsible for the design, construction, commissioning and operations of Propulsion Ground Support Equipment and infrastructure, including launch fluid systems, propulsion test stands and supporting infrastructure. You will be helping to develop in-house capability and know-how to design, manufacture, and test these systems. So, what are you waiting for? How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:
The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do:
- Design and analyse the fluid and mechanical aspects of Propulsion Ground Support Equipment (GSE) including launch fluid systems, propulsion test stands and supporting infrastructure
- Develop CAD models and drawings of GSE.
- Lead and support commissioning of GSE.
- Develop written procedures and checklists for performing test & commissioning operations, and support test teams as required.
- Fault find and perform rectification of GSE
- Guide the development of written procedures for manufacturing components
- Coordinate the fabrication, assembly and integration of propulsion GSE
- Support the design and testing of propulsion systems
- Support launch preparations and launch operations, as needed
- Perform other duties as requested by Management
Mandatory Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelors (BS) degree in an Engineering discipline
- 3+ years of experience in propulsion or mechanical, fluid system design and analysis in a professional setting (excluding internships)
- 3+ years’ experience with CAD designing parts and assemblies
(NX/Teamcenter preferred, but other relevant experience is valuable), or - Experience with at least one commercial FEA or Multiphysics simulation package (ANSYS preferred or NASTRAN, ABAQUS, CFD codes, etc.)
- 3+ years’ hands-on hardware experience performing fabrication, assembly, integration and testing.
- NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

- Design and build of fluids systems of fuel and oxidizers at room temperature and cryogenic temperatures.
- Ability to work well in an integrated team including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
- Knowledge of standards concerning the design of high-pressure fluid systems.
- Experience interpreting schematics and technical documentation to determine system operation and develop engineering actions
- Experience using diagnostic tools, data analysis and inspection methods to identify failures and maintenance issues on machinery
