Site Maintenance Fitter
Opal Specialty Packaging is looking for a skilled Maintenance Fitter to join our Orchard Hills team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our production by servicing and maintaining a wide range of printing and packaging machinery. Your focus will be on ensuring maximum productivity through expert repair, modification, and troubleshooting of plant equipment.
What You’ll Do
- Preventative & Reactive Maintenance: Install, repair, and modify plant machinery to maintain optimum performance and minimise downtime.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues, including detailed work on steam, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Precision Engineering: Work accurately from technical drawings to perform repairs, assembly, and welding tasks as required.
- System Optimisation: Identify opportunities to enhance machine performance and support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
- Contractor Management: Co-ordinate and supervise all contract work, including issuing work permits and conducting inductions for external contractors.
- Asset Management: Maintain equipment records, update technical drawings, and manage the ordering and stockholding of critical spare parts.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all equipment meets Australian Standards, Quality, and HACCP requirements while upholding a commitment to ZERO Harm.
What You’ll Bring
- Qualified Trade: Fitter Machinist Certificate and a Pneumatics Certificate.
- Licenses & Systems: Must hold a valid Australian Forklift license and possess knowledge of PM systems such as MEX, SAP, or similar.
- Technical Skillset: Proven experience in welding and the ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Specialised Knowledge: Proficiency in hydraulics and experience with industrial robotics is highly desirable.
- Problem Solving: A strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot automated systems under pressure.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Initiative: A self-motivated professional who takes ownership of plant reliability and safety.
