At Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS), our Family & Community Services team works at the grassroots level to wrap around and protect local families.
Operating across Mildura and Swan Hill, we are dedicated to helping our Mob raise healthy, happy children with a strong connection to culture and identity.
Your Role
An opportunity at our Mildura office is available for a culturally aware Caseworker Intensive & Integrated Family Services to provide case management support to vulnerable Aboriginal children, young people, and their families.
A key focus of this role is to maintain children safely within the family home whilst building on the family’s strengths, resilience, connections to culture and to support healing.
In this role you will
- Conduct assessments of the children, young people and their family using the Best Interest Case Practice framework,
- Develop child and family action plans with the family, then implement and review progress towards achieving the agreed action plans.,
- Work in partnership with the family and other services, particularly the Mallee Child First alliance to provide intensive services within the
Best interest Case Practice framework.
This is a Permanent Full-time position based at our Mildura office location.

About you
- A caring, calm and respectful approach,
- Strong communication and teamwork skills,
- An understanding of the local Aboriginal community, family dynamics, child rearing practices and issues faced within the local community,
- An understanding of transgenerational trauma, community trauma and the adverse effects that underpins the work with the families
- Good judgement and the ability to respond to safety concerns,
