Our story
StateCover's purpose is to keep people safe, well and working. An APRA regulated and SIRA licensed specialised insurer, we deliver workers compensation insurance solutions exclusively for local Government in NSW.
As a Mutual, we work differently. We're trusted partners to our Members (insured local councils), collaborating closely to protect their workforce and minimise the impact of workplace injuries.
The opportunity
As a Claims Officer, you’ll play a key role in delivering timely, compliant and customer-focused claims outcomes for our Members. You’ll support our claims teams by managing a range of medical only claim types, including claims for hearing aids. You will facilitate claim resolution by liaising with injured workers, employer local councils and service providers to ensure that all compensation entitlements and invoices have been processed and effecting claim closure.
You will act as a first point of contact for our general enquiries telephony line, dealing with a range of enquiries from our Members and service providers. Through this, you’ll help reduce claim lifecycle times while ensuring a high standard of service and alignment with legislative and compliance requirements.
Working closely with Case Managers and the broader Claims teams, you’ll build strong relationships and contribute to a consistent, efficient and SLA-driven service experience. You’ll use sound judgement to assess claims, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and ensure accurate documentation and record keeping. With a focus on quality and continuous improvement, you’ll contribute to minimising re-open rates, maintaining compliance standards, and supporting a proactive, member-centric claims model.
Your story
You bring experience in a claims, contact centre or similar customer service environment, where you’ve managed enquiries and worked within structured processes. You’re organised, detail-oriented and able to manage your time effectively across competing priorities to meet deadlines and service expectations.
A confident communicator, you engage well with a range of stakeholders, providing clear, timely information and support. You’re collaborative by nature, work well within a team environment, and contribute positively to shared outcomes. Adaptable and solutions-focused, you approach challenges with sound judgement and a willingness to learn, bringing a strong sense of accountability and commitment to delivering quality results.
