About the role
An opportunity exists for a suitably qualified person to join our Health, Safety and Environment Team as an Environmental Advisor. This position is responsible for monitoring and managing site environmental issues in accordance with all statutory requirements. This role also supports the business in maintaining the licence to operate requirements.
Ideally this will suit someone who likes to work autonomously and outdoors to further develop their technical knowledge.
Core responsibilities
· Lead site environmental monitoring programs to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, permits, water abstraction licenses, and mining leases.
· Proactively identify, report, and manage environmental risks, incidents, and exceedances; contribute to investigations and corrective action development.
· Undertake field sampling of surface water, groundwater, and other environmental media using industry-standard techniques and equipment.
· Analyse environmental data, interpret results, and prepare technical reports, including regulatory submissions and internal communications.
· Provide technical advice to operational teams regarding water quality management, erosion and sediment control, and site rehabilitation.
· Support closure planning activities through targeted environmental investigations, site inspections, and data collection.
· Assist in the supervision and coordination of environmental contractors and consultants.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance environmental performance across site.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will need a strong technical foundation in environmental science and demonstrated experience in mining, heavy industry, or a similarly challenging operational environment.
You will bring:
· Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Hydrogeology, or a related discipline.
· Demonstrated practical experience in water management, including surface water and/or groundwater monitoring programs.
· Experience or knowledge of Acid and Metalliferous Drainage (AMD) management (advantageous).
· Strong fieldwork capability, including in remote areas and rugged environments, with good physical fitness.
· High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to prepare technical reports and data summaries.
· Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
· A strong team player who values positive team dynamics. We are a close-knit team and place a high value on mutual respect and maintaining a positive working environment.
· A current driver’s licence (essential); experience operating 4WD vehicles highly desirable.
