The Role

This role can be based at either our Melbourne CBD or Blackburn office. 

The Financial Controller is responsible for leading the financial performance for CHL’s Victorian operations. You will oversee the financial processes and reporting requirements, working closely with the Head of Finance to ensure strong governance, compliance and financial integrity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading month-end, board and statutory reporting processes and reviewing team outputs to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Lead the annual budget process for Victorian entities within group
  • Managing the year end close and audit process, including liaising with auditors
  • Lead, develop, and manage a high-performing finance team including Finance Managers and Financial Accountants

About you

You are an experienced finance leader with strong technical expertise, strategic insight, and a proven record of managing finance teams in a complex environment. You bring integrity, attention to detail, and professionalism, and are confident providing financial guidance at an executive level.

What You’ll Bring

  • CA or CPA qualification
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior finance leadership role, preferably overseeing statutory reporting, audit, and compliance
  • Strong technical accounting and governance capability
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing finance teams
  • Proficiency with financial systems and Microsoft 365
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present financial information to senior stakeholders
  • Alignment with CHL’s values and a genuine commitment to the right of every person to access good quality housing
