Bluestone is a well-established, high yield tin producer with a strong resource base supporting a mine life in excess of 10 years. About the role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Manager – Contracts, Procurement, and Logistics to lead and oversee all contracting, procurement, inventory management and inbound/outbound shipping functions for our operation.
Reporting to the CFO and based in either Renison or Burnie, this senior leadership role partners closely with operational and commercial stakeholders to ensure the timely supply of goods and services and product shipment, effective contract management, strong supplier performance and compliance with legislative and company requirements.
Core responsibilities
Contracts & Procurement
- Lead tendering, evaluation, award and administration of contracts in collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Prepare and manage contractual documentation, variations, and extensions
- Maintain contract registers, insurance compliance including certificate of currency requirements
- Provide expert advice to other department managers on contractual obligations, claims and dispute resolution
- Develop and implement contract management plans and supplier performance frameworks and educate and train relevant stakeholder in appropriate contract management
- Identify, manage and mitigate procurement and commercial risk
- Manage contract management system and external legal advisors
- Help drive cost savings throughout the business
Stores & Inventory
- Oversee inventory control systems to ensure availability of materials for operations
- Ensure effective warehousing standards, stock accuracy and audit compliance
- Accountable for procurement activities including sourcing, re-ordering, requisition approvals, logistics and supplier enquiries
- Manage bulk stock issues and replenishment including reagents, diesel, lime and acids
- Oversee international procurement and inbound shipping requirements for inventory
Shipping
- Lead the tin concentrate export shipping program including scheduling, tracking and reporting
- Oversee all freight transport and shipping activities across site and external facilities
- Negotiate freight and shipping pricing and resolve shipping issues proactively
- Maintain accurate shipment records, partner reconciliations and share split reporting
General
- Supervise, coach and develop procurement, shipping, contract admin and stores personnel
- Management, board and stakeholder reporting for areas of responsibility
- Cost management, budgeting and KPI tracking for areas of responsibility
About you
You are an experienced commercial leader with a strong background in contracts management, procurement and logistics, preferably including international shipping, ideally gained within a mining or heavy industry environment. You bring proven leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and demonstrate strong commercial acumen, with the ability to negotiate effectively, manage risk and deliver cost-effective outcomes for the business.
You have sound knowledge of contract law, tendering processes and supplier performance management, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable you to influence and partner effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. Strong organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail are essential, as is a commitment to governance, compliance, safety and integrity.
You are proactive and solutions-focused, with a genuine commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex operational environment. You uphold high ethical standards and are trusted to manage confidential commercial and financial information with discretion and professionalism. A national criminal police check is required for this role.
