How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:
The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do:
- Assemble, modify, repair and install launch vehicles structural components
- Use sheet metal and fabrication machinery to cut, bend, form, punch or stamp
- Align, fit, shim, and trim parts to engineering specifications
- Drill, ream, countersink and deburr components for assembly
- Apply sealants, primer, adhesives and protective finishes as required
- Install and secure fasteners using pneumatic and hand tools
- Use solvents to clean surfaces prior to sealing or assembly
- Operate brake press, large CNC roller, install PEM fastener
- Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure quality and compliance
- Ensure all work complies with company procedures, engineering requirements and regulatory obligations
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency and cost
- Maintain effective working relationships with Engineering, Planning, Quality and Manufacturing teams
- Other duties as requested by Management
- Level 3 Trade qualification in Aerospace, Fitting, or similar trade
- 3+ years of experience in the aerospace, manufacturing, marine or automotive industry
- Experience gained through the military or within an aviation manufacturing company
- High-volume manufacturing experience
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with Engineering, Planning and Manufacturing
- Ability to rapidly adapt to changes in direction while working in a fast-paced, challenging work environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with the proper usage of mechanics hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment.
- Experience making basic layouts on parts or assemblies to establish reference points and to check dimensions
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Experience operating computing equipment and in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment
- Experience with configuration management, non-conformance reporting, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
- NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred
