Reporting to the Senior Payroll Officer, this role is responsible for timely and accurate processing of payroll, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support payroll processing and issue resolution, and maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.

This position will:

  • Assist with accurate preparation, verification, and processing of weekly wages
  • Assist with payroll data entry and administrative tasks
  • Validate conditions of the MCPL Enterprise Agreement, NES, Modern Awards and individual contracts
  • Accurately accrue and process employee leave entitlements
  • Maintain payroll records to support quality processes and audits
  • Attend to payroll queries and discrepancies in a professional and timely manner

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a payroll or similar role
  • Qualification or training in payroll, business, bookkeeping, or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of applicable Modern Awards
  • Proven ability to work within established payroll systems and processes
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and record keeping
  • Effective communication and stakeholder liaison skills
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Knowledge of the civil construction industry (desirable)
