How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:
The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do.
- Perform design and development work of all liquid-based turbopump systems
- Assist in fabrication and integration of turbopump components and sub-systems
- Prepare and take part in testing of turbopumps and related components
- Assist in rocket motor test programs where turbos are used
- Develop and test new hybrid rocket motor solid fuels to incorporate additive
manufacturing techniques - Build the testing infrastructure to evaluate engine performance, including fuel
characterisation, combustion efficiency enhancement, ablative material
characterisation, motor insulation techniques, and oxidiser catalyst evaluation - Investigate hybrid regression rate theory for different fuels
- Design, build, test and evaluate catalyst pack and motor ignition systems
- Ballistic simulations and simulation tool development for development of orbital class motor
- Analyse empirical data and compare to theoretically ideal performance top determine combustion stabilities and instabilities
- Test stand/boiler plate motor case design
- Develop written procedures and checklist for orchestrating testing operations
- Assist in the assembly and fabrication of motor components, when required
- Fluid Systems (CFD) modelling
- Work with the Human Resources team to grow the Gilmour Space team as required
- Other duties as requested by Management
Mandatory Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelors (BS) degree in an engineering discipline
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role (e.g., developing turbopumps for rocket systems)
- NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred

- Experience with the design of turbo machinery and pumps for (cryogenic fluids is a plus)
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software packages
- Ability to perform calculations and analysis of turbopump systems
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced,
challenging work environment - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
