We’re looking for a compassionate and skilled Shelter Worker to join our dedicated team at Good Hope Men’s Service supporting some of the most vulnerable men from our community.

About the Role
You will be responsible for supporting single males in a residential facility. The service operates on a 24/7 roster which includes lone worker sleepover and weekend shifts.
Shifts are as follows:
- Day Shift: 7:30am to 12:30pm Monday to Friday
- Night shift: 4:00pm to 8:00am with sleepover, Monday to Sunday
- 8:00am to 4:00pm Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays
Key Responsibilities:
Main tasks will include (but are not limited to):
- Reception and phone duties
- Undertake comprehensive intake and assessment of individuals to identify needs, and risks
- Provide holistic, person-centred support to individuals experiencing homelessness
- Develop and implement individualised support and action plans focused on housing, health, wellbeing and financial stability
- Coordinate services and provide supported referrals for clients
- Deliver high-quality case management, maintaining regular meetings with clients, monitoring progress, and adapting support as needs change
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, and all necessary documentation and data entry
- Advocate on behalf of clients to access housing, financial and specialist services
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies to coordinate support and remove barriers to provide transition and exit into appropriate housing
- Empower clients to build resilience, confidence and independence, helping them to sustain tenancies and prevent repeat homelessness
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, reflective practice and ongoing training to ensure the delivery of high-quality support
- Undertake general housekeeping tasks (cleaning, cooking, etc)
About you:
To be successful for this role, we are looking for someone with:
- Relevant experience in trauma-informed, person-centred case management
- A genuine commitment to achieving outcomes for clients.
- A good working knowledge and understanding of the community and public housing sectors and services available to assist clients.
- Excellent communication skills
- Capacity to maintain a safe and stable environment for clients, including de-escalating issues as they arise
- High level time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently as part of a wider team
- First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain
- A commitment to the right of all people to affordable and sustainable housing.
Please note that a satisfactory police check is required for all staff. You will also be required to apply for a NDIS and Working with Children Check
