Bluestone Mines Tasmania Joint Venture Pty Ltd, is Australia’s largest Tin producer. Bluestone is a well-established, high yield tin producer now entering an exciting redevelopment period. The Renison mine is located on Tasmania’s beautiful West Coast between the towns of Zeehan and Rosebery.
About the mine
It is an exciting time at the Renison underground mine which has recently announced its Life of Mine plan outlining a strong resource plan for the next 10 years. Renison is embarking on a progressive improvement journey to challenge the way we work and optimise our operations to increase our production and transform our mining style.
About the role
We are looking for a Junior Exploration Geologist on a full-time basis to assist in the execution and day-to-day management of exploration programs. This position will support the Resource and Exploration Geology function within the Resource Development and Planning Department, reporting to the Superintendent Exploration.
This position is being offered on 8 days on 6 days off, 12-hour day shift roster (roster is negotiable). Residential or DIDO.
Core responsibilities
- Support the RDP team with planning and execution of exploration geological activities in line with the 10-year LOMP strategy.
- Assist with the collection, data management, reporting and interpretation of geological, geochemical and geophysical field and drilling data.
- Geological field mapping and sampling.
- Exploration drill core logging.
- Assist in management and completion of exploration activities in accordance with schedules and budget.
- Ensure Job Specific and Site Safety Procedures and reporting responsibilities are met.
- Execute exploration activities in compliance with site and statutory environmental and safety standards and regulations.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have a tertiary qualification in Geology and a minimum of one to two years previous experience, preferably in exploration with advanced knowledge of Microsoft office, and a strong knowledge of Leapfrog, MapInfo/QGIS and Acquire.
You will need to have a c-class licence and be comfortable and able to work both un-supervised and as part of a team in both office and field situations whilst demonstrating strong communication and organisational skills enabling you to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
